While it is not possible to include the website navigation bar in the donation form, WebCampaigns otherwise offers solid functionality. It is relatively expensive for what it is, however, especially for organizations who take in more than a few donations. It provides a data export format that integrates with GiftMaker Pro, making it a possible choice for those using this database. Others will find better tools at a cheaper price.


Fees and Transaction Costs

Setup Fees:

  • While they do not have a specific “setup fee,” they require each organization to pay $200 to take two training classes to use the tool
  • Monthly fee of $25, for only standard donations. $45/month to include tribute/memorial module; $90/month to include individual campaign a-thon module
  • 7.2% of the donated amount

Merchant Account: Organization’s

  • WebCampaigns will set up each organization with a merchant account in their name. The merchant account must be the one endorsed by Campagne
  • The charge on the donor’s credit card will be shown in the organization’s name

Company Background: Good

  • Campagne makes a number of software tools for nonprofit organizations; most notably GiftMaker Pro
  • They started taking online payments in 2004
  • They have about 60 clients

Setup and Support: Good

  • WebCampaigns is essentially self-service. Each organization needs to setup their own donation form through an administration tool
  • Support is available via phone and email 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM Monday through Friday

Donation Form Appearance: Acceptable

  • The donation form cannot include the global navigation bar from the site, but it can be tailored to the colors of the website and include the organization’s logo or a graphic banner
  • The standard form is clean and professional looking
  • Standard donations, tributes, and memorial gifts all require separate forms with separate links from the website

Donation Form Flexibility: Excellent

  • Any fields can be added to support whatever is needed
  • Organizations can tailor the amount and text shown for any standard donations
  • Organizations can have as many donation forms as desired – for instance, to support different campaigns
  • Can support tributes and memorials through specific forms designed to accommodate them; these are available at extra cost

Payment Processing: Good

  • Commonly process Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover
  • They support recurring donations as a standard feature. They handle the communication process with the donor as well – they send emails to let the donor know that their card will be charged, and follow up on credit cards that will expire
  • They do not support eChecks
  • Address and CSV code credit card checks are available

Reports & Data: Good

  • A web-based administrative interface allows organizations to view donor information
  • Organizations can view month-to-month or year-to-year comparisons
  • The data can be downloaded into a CSV text file. This file is in the appropriate format to allow it to be easily uploaded into an existing GiftMaker Pro database
  • WebCampaigns does not offer any method to access data programmatically that would allow a programmer to build an automated feed to another database

Money Distribution: Excellent

  • Money is deposited directly into the organization’s account within a few days after donation
