Updates to this Report
We're planning to do a wholesale update of this report as soon as we can fund it. In the meantime, however, here's the things we know to be out-of-date or not included:
- Click and Pledge implemented a number of new features in early 2006.
- Democracy in Action redefined and substantially increased their pricing in June 2006. Their lowest pricing tier is now $100/month (for their full suite of tools), which takes them out of the price range of this report.
- PayPal has implemented PayPal Pro. This is a more advanced solution than the PayPal functionality we cover in this report, and it appears that it can be closely integrated with your website. We need to investigate further to determine how much technical skill is needed to implement it and how well it supports donations to determine whether it should be included in this report.
- We're gathering a list of additional tools. We've been told that these tools fall within the scope of this report, but have not looked at them or evaluated them yet.
4 Comments:
Watch out for charges on recurring payments - PayPal charges a company $40/mo to allow them. Credit card companies also charge a monthly fee. I know 82north.com does not charge a recurring payment fee.
also, Network for Good charges 4.5% on each donation.
Take a look at DonorPerfect's Weblink product. It can handle donation processing and is also very customizable regarding other types of transactions and information collection. You can see samples at www.donorperfect.com/weblinksamples
The fees are very competitive ($30/month and 2.99%) with the other products listed.
Acceptiva is also very competitive and does not charge extra for recurring charges or a virtual terminal.
