Laura S. Quinn, Founder and Director Laura has been working in the software sector for more than ten years. As Idealware’s Director, she directs Idealware’s research and writing to provide candid reports and articles about nonprofit software. Prior to Idealware, Laura founded Alder Consulting, where she helped nonprofits create internet strategies, select appropriate software, and then build sophisticated websites on a limited budget. She has also selected software, designed interfaces and conducted user research for multi-million dollar software and website implementations with such companies as Accenture and iXL. Laura is a frequent speaker and writer on nonprofit technology topics.
Idealware is deeply thankful for the help of more than 75 nonprofit technology professionals, including IT staff at nonprofits, professionals at consulting firms, and independant consultants, who donate their time and expertise to aid Idealware in creating candid information about nonprofit software. In particular, Idealware relies on the help of a core group of individuals, who each serve as expert reviewers on many Idealware resources. Some are paid for parts of their Idealware work, but all have devoted far more time and knowledge than we could repay. These core content contributors are: Peter Campbell, Earthjustice and Techcafeteria.com Peter Campbell is currently the Director of Information Technology at Earthjustice, an non-profit law firm dedicated to defending the earth. Prior to joining Earthjustice, Peter spent seven years serving as IT Director at Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo & Marin Counties, Inc. Peter has been managing technology for non-profits and law firms for over 20 years, and has a broad knowledge of systems, email and the web. In 2003, he won a "Top Technology Innovator" award from InfoWorld for developing a retail reporting system for Goodwill thrift. Peter's focus is on advancing communication, collaboration and efficiency through creative use of the web and other technology platforms. In addition to his work at SF Goodwill, Peter maintains a number of personal and non-profit web sites; blogs on NPTech tools and strategies at http://techcafeteria.com; is active in the non-profit community as member of NTEN; and spends as much quality time as possible with his wife, Linda, and eight year old son, Ethan. Heather Gardner-Madras, gardner-madras strategic | creative Heather Gardner-Madras (aka hgm) heads gardner-madras strategic | creative, providing progressive nonprofits and socially responsible businesses with experienced online strategy, design and execution. From her virtual office in the green hills of Oregon, she shares lessons learned the hard way and exciting new ideas with great organizations around the world. Over the years, she has helped many organizations of all sizes improve the quality of their online communications. Paul Hagen, Hagen 20/20 Paul is the founding partner of Hagen 20/20, a consultancy that helps social enterprises and nonprofit organizations scale through the effective use of technology. He provides business and technology planning, change management, process re-engineering, and project management services for clients. Previously, Paul was a senior analyst at Forrester Research where he led research efforts on technologies such as customer relationship management (CRM), knowledge management, personalization, search and intelligent agents, online education, collaboration tools, and interface design. Paul's career started in the nonprofit and education sector (U.S. Peace Corps, Teach For America, Edison Schools), and he's held advisory board positions for the National Strategy for Nonprofit Technology (now N-TEN), Youth Technology Entrepreneurs, and Purple Sun. Paul holds a M.Ed. from Harvard and a B.A. from Stanford.
Beth Kanter, Social Media and Nonprofits: Trainer, Coach, and Consultant Beth is a trainer, coach, and consultant to nonprofits in the area of effective technology use, as well as a professional blogger at Beth's Blog and many other blogs. She has worked on projects that include training, curriculum development, research, and evaluation, and has expertise in how to use new web tools (blogging, tagging, wikis, photo sharing, video blogging, screencasting, social networking sites, virtual worlds, etc) to support nonprofit goals. Eric Leland, Leland Design Eric has spent the last 13 years working with progressive organizations tackling online and offline technology challenges. As the founder and director of Leland Design), Eric focuses on strategic technology planning, website and database planning and development for progressive health and human services organizations, human rights and environmental advocacy groups. In addition to Leland Design, Eric served as the director of TechCommons at TechSoup.org, one of the nation's most comprehensive nonprofit technology assistance organizations, and worked with a variety of organizations including Amnesty International, Human Rights First and Witness . Eric is active in nonprofit and technology circles, serving as the co-chair to the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network in San Francisco, and as a member of the Graphic Alliance, the Tech Underground and the Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network. Jon Stahl, ONE/Northwest The last of the founding cohort of ONE/Northwest staffers, Jon has been with the organization Robert Weiner, Robert L. Weiner Consulting Robert , President of Robert L. Weiner Consulting, is an independent technology consultant based in San Francisco. He specializes in helping nonprofits make informed, strategic decisions about the selection, use, and management of information technology. He has consulted for a wide variety of organizations including the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Earthjustice, EMILY's List, the California Hospice Foundation, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Trust for Public Land, UC Berkeley, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Pomona College, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, Reed College, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, the American Red Cross of the Bay Area, and the San Francisco Ballet. |
